Domaine William Fevre, Chablis, 1er Cru Vaillons 2020 (6x75cl)
Domaine William Fevre, Chablis, Vaillons 2020 (6x75cl)
As mentioned on my page offering Fevre's Fourchaumes, I have always battled to decide if I prefer Vaillons, This 2020 vintage is giving Vaillons an edge which I love.
Recently served at an in-house event for a hedge fund and it went down a treat! It really is a cut above many more expensively priced options in the Chablis world.
This Climat lies at the very western end of the Grands Crus area on fairly deep marl and clay terrain with a southwest exposure. On the palate, this appellation’s wines are often very full and rich. Rich bouquet with intense mineral notes. Full and round on the palate. With a soil base more limestone than clay, sitting on hard, compact Portlandian limestone, it represents all the different types of Chablis terroir under one appellation. Pronounced nose of fruit and flowers, with lovely freshness and a few mineral touches. Generous palate, with lovely roundness.
