The People Behind Lunzer

Different backgrounds. Different personalities. One shared approach.

Lunzer is built around a shared belief that wine is at its best when it brings people together. Peter and Sofia bring different strengths to the business, supported by a growing team of hosts who share the same warmth, curiosity and instinct for hospitality.

Meet Peter Lunzer

Peter Lunzer is the founder of Lunzer and the wine expert, raconteur and host behind its signature experiences.

What began as a holiday job in wine became a lifelong career. More than three decades later, Peter still jokes that he was fortunate enough never to leave it.

Along the way, he has built an extraordinary depth of knowledge across fine wine, hospitality and wine investment. But what really distinguishes Peter is the way he wears that knowledge.

There is no snobbery and no expectation that anyone should know what they are "supposed" to taste. Instead, Peter uses stories, humour, curiosity and a remarkable ability to read a room to make wine engaging for everyone, from complete beginners to lifelong collectors.

He is also famously laid-back. Problems are simply things to be sorted, and Peter has a natural way of making even complex events feel effortless. Whether he is hosting, troubleshooting, helping the team or quietly rolling up his sleeves behind the scenes, his approach is always calm, practical and generous.

Over the years, Peter has collaborated with chefs including Anton Mosimann, Michel Roux Jr., Antonio Carluccio and Paul Gayler, and has hosted audiences from law, finance, private equity, technology, insurance and luxury businesses, as well as private clients around the world.

He is also a respected authority on fine wine investment, having advised on and managed portfolios exceeding £80 million.

But however exceptional the wine, Peter has always believed that the bottle is only the beginning.

Wine is the catalyst. The people around the table are what matter.

Warm, intuitive and commercially minded, Sofia loves building relationships, opening conversations and finding new ways to bring people together. She is as comfortable shaping the strategy as she is meeting potential clients, developing partnerships or rolling up her sleeves to make things happen.

She loves a challenge and is happiest when there is something to solve, often finding the less obvious route forward. Her ideas can be unconventional, but they are always grounded in what will actually work, and rarely without a good dose of humour.

Hospitality comes naturally to her. She loves hosting, looking after people and creating the kind of atmosphere where people feel relaxed, included and genuinely welcome.

Her role is to help ensure Lunzer continues to feel sophisticated but unpretentious, thoughtful, warm and unmistakably human.

04 Our Hosts

Our Hosts

Different backgrounds. Different personalities. One shared approach.

Lunzer is building a growing team of hosts from different backgrounds and walks of life, each bringing their own personality, perspective and style to the table.

What they share is a belief in how wine should be experienced.

Knowledge matters, of course, but so does warmth, generosity and the ability to make people feel at ease. Our hosts encourage guests to trust their own taste, explore, discover, ask questions and enjoy the conversation rather than worry about getting wine "right".

Wine is the catalyst. The real magic is what happens around it: curiosity, shared discovery, laughter, conversation and connection.

Underpinning all of that is something much less visible, but just as important: excellent service, attention to detail, thoughtful preparation and a genuine instinct for looking after people.

So while every Lunzer host will bring something different, the experience should always feel unmistakably Lunzer.

Sophisticated. Unpretentious.

Warm, generous and brilliantly hosted.
