About Lunzer

What is a Lunzer experience?

A Lunzer experience is a bespoke hospitality experience that uses wine as a catalyst for conversation and connection.

We believe the most memorable evenings aren't simply about exceptional food or great wine. They're about the conversations that unfold around the table, the stories that are shared and the connections that are made.

That's why every Lunzer experience is bespoke. It begins with understanding your guests, your objectives and the atmosphere you want to create. From there, we carefully curate the wines, shape the flow of the evening and host the experience so that conversation develops naturally.

There is no pressure to know anything about wine, no lectures and no right or wrong answers. Instead, we create relaxed, engaging experiences built around storytelling, curiosity and shared discovery.

Whether you're entertaining clients, bringing colleagues together, celebrating a milestone or creating opportunities for new relationships to grow, every Lunzer experience is thoughtfully designed around one simple idea.

How is a Lunzer experience different from a traditional wine tasting?

Traditional wine tastings have an important place in the world of wine, and we genuinely admire the knowledge, passion and expertise they celebrate. They are often designed to explore grape varieties, wine regions, terroir, winemaking techniques and tasting notes.

Our approach has a different purpose.

At Lunzer, we don't see wine as the destination. We see it as the beginning.

Rather than delivering a lecture or encouraging guests to find the 'right' tasting notes, we create immersive experiences built around storytelling, shared discovery and conversation. The wine becomes the catalyst, gently bringing people together, lowering barriers and creating an atmosphere where conversations unfold naturally.

There are no right or wrong answers. One of our favourite moments is when two people experience the same wine completely differently. We encourage every guest to trust their own palate, enjoy the stories and discover wine in their own way.

Guests often leave having learned something new about wine. More importantly, they leave having learned something about each other.

Wine is the catalyst. People are the purpose. Conversation is the outcome.

Why is a Lunzer experience so different?

A Lunzer experience is never built around a fixed formula. Every event begins with understanding your guests, your objectives and the relationships you want to strengthen.

Rather than creating another wine tasting, we design bespoke hospitality experiences that use wine as a catalyst for conversation, storytelling and genuine human connection.

Everything is carefully considered, from the wines and their stories to the pace of the evening, the atmosphere and the moments that encourage people to connect naturally.

The result is an experience that feels sophisticated without being intimidating, educational without becoming a lecture, and memorable because of the people around the table as much as the wines in the glass.

Why do people come before the wine?

It's a simple idea, really.

Wine has always been at its best when it's shared.

Long before anyone talked about tasting notes, scores or grape varieties, wine brought people around the same table. It marked celebrations, started conversations and gave friends, families and colleagues a reason to slow down and spend time together. Around the table, friendships have been formed, business relationships have grown, ideas have taken shape, trust has been built and, every now and then, differences have quietly found a way to be resolved.

That's the tradition we love most.

Of course, we care deeply about the wines we serve. We spend a great deal of time choosing bottles with character, stories worth telling and the ability to surprise and delight our guests. We think just as carefully about how each wine is paired with the food, because together they create an experience that's greater than the sum of its parts.

But even then, the wine is never the destination.

The real purpose is creating an atmosphere where people feel relaxed enough to talk, laugh, discover something new and genuinely enjoy one another's company.

That's why every Lunzer experience begins with a conversation about the people before we ever choose the wines. We want to understand who your guests are, why they're coming together and what you'd love them to be talking about on the journey home. Only then do we begin designing an experience around them.

Because while wine may bring people to the table, it's the people around the table who make the evening memorable.

What makes the style of hosting so different?

Hosting is at the heart of every Lunzer experience.

Our role is not simply to introduce the wines. It is to create an atmosphere where people feel comfortable, curious and genuinely engaged with one another.

You will never find long lectures or lengthy presentations. Instead, we host in short, carefully timed moments throughout the evening. Between courses and between wines, we share stories, introduce each wine and gently sow the seeds for conversations that develop naturally around the table. Then we step back and let the evening unfold.

Some moments invite laughter. Others spark curiosity. Occasionally a story leads to an unexpected debate or a fresh perspective. Our role is never to dominate those conversations, but to create the atmosphere where they happen naturally.

We believe the best hosts know when to speak, when to listen and, perhaps most importantly, when to step back. Reading the room is every bit as important as understanding the wine.

Our style is sophisticated without being intimidating, knowledgeable without ever feeling preachy, and always warm, generous and welcoming. There are no right or wrong answers, no pressure to know anything about wine and no expectation that anyone should feel like an expert.

Instead, we invite guests to trust their own palate, enjoy the stories, discover wonderful wines and, above all, enjoy discovering one another.

Because great hosting is never about being the centre of attention. It is about creating an evening that people will still be talking about long after the last glass has been poured.

Who do you work with?

People often ask whether we specialise in a particular industry or type of event.

The short answer is no.

Over the years we've had the privilege of working with businesses of every size, from entrepreneurial start-ups to global organisations, as well as private clients looking to create something truly memorable. We've created experiences across the UK and around the world, from Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai to Moscow, Monaco and destinations across Europe.

We've hosted everything from intimate dinners for four guests to networking events with more than 350 people.

Some clients invite us to entertain valued customers. Others bring together colleagues, leadership teams, partners or prospective clients. We've hosted board dinners, client appreciation evenings, networking events, team celebrations, milestone occasions and private dining experiences.

What they all have in common isn't the industry, the location or the size of the event. It's the belief that relationships matter, and the intention to bring the right people together in a meaningful way.

That's where Lunzer comes in. Every experience is thoughtfully designed around the people in the room, the purpose of the gathering and the outcomes you'd like to achieve.

Why do so many clients come back to Lunzer?

We're incredibly grateful that so many of our clients choose to work with us again and again.

Of course, we'd like to think it's because they enjoy the wines, the hospitality and the experiences we create together. But we believe it goes a little deeper than that.

Over time, we get to know our clients, their businesses and the people who matter most to them. We understand what they're hoping to achieve, what has worked well before and how each experience can be refined and built upon.

Rather than simply organising individual events, we become a trusted partner. Someone they can rely on for ideas, honest advice and thoughtful hospitality, whether they're planning an intimate dinner for a handful of guests or a large networking event.

Today, around 85–90% of our work comes from returning clients and personal recommendations, something we're incredibly proud of and never take for granted.

For us, every event is the beginning of a relationship, not the end of a project.

Why is bringing people together more important than ever?

For thousands of years, people have gathered around a table to share food, wine and conversation.

Long before networking became a business term, hospitality became an industry or relationships were measured by return on investment, people understood the simple power of sharing a meal and a glass of wine. It was where friendships began, trust was earned, ideas were exchanged and communities were built.

Today, the world looks very different. We live in an age of artificial intelligence, instant communication and endless digital interactions. We can reach almost anyone, anywhere, at any time. Yet despite all this technology, or perhaps because of it, genuine human connection has never been more valuable.

People still choose to do business with people they know, trust and enjoy spending time with. The strongest partnerships are still built through conversations, and the best ideas still emerge when people slow down, sit together and give one another their full attention.

That's why, although we're passionate about wine, we don't believe we're simply in the wine business.

We believe we're in the business of bringing people together.

Wine has always been one of humanity's greatest catalysts for connection. It has an extraordinary ability to slow the pace, lower barriers and create an atmosphere where conversations happen naturally. That's as true today as it was centuries ago.

At Lunzer, we simply continue that tradition.

We create thoughtful experiences where people can connect, ideas can flourish and relationships can grow. Sometimes we describe ourselves as connectors. Perhaps more accurately, we're facilitators of meaningful human connection. We create the conditions where remarkable conversations can happen because we've seen, time and again, how often the best opportunities begin with something as simple as sharing a glass of wine.

Whether that conversation leads to a new client, a stronger partnership, a fresh idea, a lifelong friendship or simply an evening that people remember with great affection almost feels secondary.

What matters is that people connected.

That's why we believe hospitality has never been more important.

And that's why we love what we do.

What role does storytelling play in a Lunzer experience?

Long before networking was an industry and hospitality became a profession, people gathered around a table to share food, a drink and a story.

Stories are one of the oldest ways we make sense of the world. They make us laugh, challenge our thinking, transport us somewhere new and remind us of people we've loved or places we've visited. They spark memories, invite curiosity and, perhaps most importantly, encourage us to tell stories of our own.

That's why storytelling plays such an important role in every Lunzer experience.

The world of wine happens to be full of wonderful stories. Stories of extraordinary people, remarkable journeys, chance encounters, traditions passed from one generation to the next, forgotten vineyards, unexpected discoveries, history, culture, art, travel and the wonderfully eccentric characters who make the wine world such an endlessly fascinating place.

But the stories themselves are only the beginning.

What we love most is watching what happens afterwards.

Somebody hears a story and suddenly remembers a family holiday in Italy. Another guest talks about a meal they'll never forget. Someone else shares a favourite restaurant, a fascinating book or a person they once met. Before long, the conversation has taken on a life of its own.

That's the real power of storytelling.

It has a remarkable way of turning strangers into people who have something in common. It replaces small talk with genuine conversation and creates moments of laughter, curiosity and shared discovery that people remember long after the evening has ended.

We don't tell stories simply to teach people about wine.

We tell stories because stories bring people together.

At Lunzer, we often say that wine is a catalyst for conversation. In many ways, stories do exactly the same thing. A good story opens a conversation, and the best conversations have a wonderful habit of taking on a life of their own.

Perhaps that's why the story is rarely the destination. It's the invitation.

The Experience

Do guests need to know anything about wine?

Absolutely not.

In fact, one of the nicest compliments we receive is when guests tell us they arrived knowing very little about wine and left feeling completely relaxed, inspired and eager to discover more.

A Lunzer experience is designed to be sophisticated but never pretentious, welcoming, engaging and enjoyable for everyone, whether you've never been to a wine event before or you've spent years exploring the world's wine regions.

There are no right or wrong answers, no pressure to identify obscure tasting notes and no expectation that anyone should know the difference between one grape variety and another. We believe wine should be explored with curiosity rather than confidence, and that every guest should feel comfortable trusting their own palate.

One of our favourite moments is when people around the same table experience exactly the same wine in completely different ways. That's not only expected, it's encouraged. Those different perspectives often lead to the best conversations.

Our role is simply to guide the evening, share the stories behind the wines and create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome to join in, ask questions and enjoy discovering the wines together.

Whether you're taking your very first sip of an unfamiliar grape variety or you've been collecting wine for years, every guest brings something valuable to the table.

That's exactly how we think it should be.

How do you curate the wines for a Lunzer experience?

People often ask us how we choose the wines for a Lunzer experience.

The honest answer is that we don't really begin with the wines at all. By the time we're thinking about what to pour into the glasses, we've already spent time thinking about something much more important: the people who'll be around the table, why they're coming together and the kind of atmosphere we'd like to create. The wines are then carefully curated to support that experience.

Of course, every wine has to taste wonderful, but that's only part of the story. We're looking for wines with personality, wines with a sense of place and wines with stories worth telling, because those stories often become part of the conversations around the table.

Sometimes we'll introduce guests to a small family producer they've never heard of, perhaps working just beyond a world-famous vineyard, sharing the very same terroir but without the famous name or price tag. On other occasions we'll choose the second or third wine from one of the world's great estates, offering remarkable quality, wonderful character and exceptional value while still expressing the philosophy of that producer.

And sometimes the occasion simply calls for something iconic. Opening a celebrated bottle at exactly the right moment can create a wonderful sense of theatre and celebration. We're certainly not against prestige. We simply don't believe prestige should be the starting point.

We think just as carefully about the marriage of food and wine. A thoughtful pairing doesn't need to be complicated, but it should feel harmonious, elevating both the food and the wine while adding another layer to the experience.

For us, every bottle has to earn its place at the table. It should complement the food, suit the atmosphere and, perhaps most importantly, help create moments that people will remember. Because we're never simply choosing wines. We're designing an experience.

Why do we talk about The Marriage of Food & Wine?

One of the subjects we come back to time and again during a Lunzer experience is what we like to call The Marriage of Food & Wine.

The reason is simple. It's endlessly fascinating.

People often think there's a perfect wine for every dish, but it's much more interesting than that. Food has an extraordinary ability to change the way a wine tastes. One bite can make a wine seem richer and more generous. The very next mouthful can make the same wine feel sharper, flatter or completely out of balance. Add another ingredient and suddenly the wine comes back to life again.

Watching those changes happen around the table is one of the most enjoyable parts of what we do.

Sometimes it's a marriage made in heaven. Sometimes it's heading for divorce. And every now and then, with just one more bite of food, they're happily back together again.

Those moments are wonderfully revealing because they remind us that there are very few absolutes in wine. The same bottle can taste completely different depending on what's on the plate, who's drinking it and even the conversations taking place around the table.

That's why we don't approach food and wine pairing as a list of rules to memorise. We see it as an invitation to explore, experiment and enjoy discovering what works for you.

Of course, we'll often introduce classic combinations that have stood the test of time, but we also love surprising guests with unexpected pairings that challenge assumptions and spark conversations. Sometimes those surprises become people's favourite discoveries of the evening.

Like everything we do at Lunzer, The Marriage of Food & Wine isn't about finding the one perfect answer.

It's about encouraging curiosity, creating shared moments of discovery and reminding ourselves that some of life's greatest pleasures are even better when they're enjoyed together.

What kinds of experiences does Lunzer create?

No two Lunzer experiences are ever quite the same because no two groups of people are the same.

Every experience begins with a conversation about your guests, your objectives and the kind of atmosphere you'd like to create. From there, we design an experience that's tailored specifically to you.

Over the years we've created experiences for everything from four guests to more than 350, and we've found that most of the experiences we design fall into four broad categories. Every one of them, however, is thoughtfully tailored to the people in the room and the outcome you're hoping to achieve.

Networking Experiences

Relaxed, energetic and interactive, our Networking Experiences are designed to help people meet naturally rather than simply exchange business cards. Guests enjoy a carefully curated selection of wines, a few delicious canapés and thoughtfully chosen conversation starters that help turn networking into natural conversations.

Hosted Wine Dinner Experiences

Hosted Wine Dinner Experiences are about depth rather than breadth. Guests gather around one table for exceptional food, carefully curated wines, storytelling and relaxed conversation. These evenings create the space for stronger relationships, longer conversations and shared discoveries.

Lunzer Signature Experiences

Reserved for those occasions when only the exceptional will do, our Signature Experiences are hosted in some of London's most beautiful and characterful venues. Extraordinary wines, exceptional cuisine, remarkable stories and world-class hosting come together to create unforgettable occasions where every detail matters. Whether you're celebrating an important milestone, entertaining valued clients or creating a truly memorable evening, every Signature Experience is thoughtfully curated from beginning to end.

At the Lunzer Table

At the Lunzer Table is our series of hosted ticketed dining experiences in London.

Rather than organising your own private event, you simply reserve your place, or bring a client, colleague or friend, and join us around the table for wonderful food, exceptional wines and fascinating conversation.

It's the perfect way to experience Lunzer, entertain a small number of guests or colleagues, or enjoy a memorable evening without the commitment of organising an event yourself.

Think less wine tasting and more dinner party, where the guests simply haven't met yet.

Whatever the format, the philosophy never changes.

Every Lunzer experience is thoughtfully designed around the people in the room, because that's where memorable evenings begin.

What kinds of journeys can we explore together?

One of the things we love most about wine is that the possibilities are almost endless.

Behind every bottle lies a story. A place. A person. A culture. A piece of history. An idea. A journey waiting to be shared.

Over the years, we've taken clients on countless Journeys of Discovery through the fascinating world of wine. Some have explored legendary producers and iconic wine regions. Others have compared the Old World with the New, discovered hidden gems, explored the wonderful Marriage of Food & Wine or challenged their assumptions in a Battle of the Bubbles. Some journeys have been inspired by history, others by travel, innovation or the remarkable people behind the wines themselves.

These aren't fixed packages or predefined experiences. They're simply examples of the journeys we've been on together with our clients over the years, and a glimpse into the many directions we can travel together.

Every Lunzer experience is bespoke.

Sometimes a client comes to us with a particular idea or theme. More often, they simply tell us who they're bringing together, what they'd like to achieve and the kind of experience they'd like to create. From there, we design a journey that's unique to their audience, their objectives and their occasion.

The possibilities are almost endless.

What you'll discover on our website isn't a catalogue of experiences to choose from. It's simply a taster of the many Journeys of Discovery we've created over the years.

If one of them sparks an idea, wonderful.

If not, we'll create an entirely new journey together.

Can we create something completely unique?

Absolutely.

In fact, we wouldn't want it any other way.

Every Lunzer experience is thoughtfully designed around the people in the room, which means no two events are ever quite the same.

Some clients come to us with a clear vision. Others simply know they want to bring the right people together. Both are equally good places to start.

From there, we shape the experience together.

We'll help you decide on the most suitable format, recommend wines, create thoughtful food pairings, explore themes and Journeys of Discovery, suggest venues if needed and tailor every detail to your guests, your objectives and your budget.

Whether you're planning an intimate dinner for a handful of guests, a networking event for hundreds, or something that doesn't fit neatly into any category, we'll create an experience that's uniquely yours.

We don't believe in off-the-shelf experiences.

We believe the best evenings are created together, one conversation at a time.

Planning

How does planning a Lunzer experience work?

Every Lunzer experience begins in exactly the same way.

With a conversation.

Before we talk about wines, menus or venues, we'd like to understand a little more about you. Who are your guests? Why are you bringing them together? What are you hoping they'll take away from the experience? What would success look like?

Once we understand your objectives, the people in the room and the atmosphere you'd like to create, we begin designing the experience around them.

From there, we'll guide you through every step of the journey.

We'll curate and source the wines, create thoughtful food pairings and help shape the menu, whether that's a few carefully chosen canapés for a networking event, a relaxed lunch or a hosted wine dinner.

If you'd like, we're also happy to help with what we call The Art of Invitation. After all, every memorable evening begins long before the first glass is poured. A thoughtful invitation creates curiosity, builds anticipation and gives people a reason to say yes.

Whether you're hosting in-house, have already found the perfect venue, or would like us to recommend one from our trusted network, we're happy to work in whichever way suits you best.

We also work with a wonderful selection of caterers and other trusted suppliers, and we're happy to help arrange everything from glassware and equipment to staffing and logistics.

On the day itself, we'll make sure every detail is taken care of. Every element is quietly brought together behind the scenes, so everything flows effortlessly.

Then comes our favourite part.

Hosting the experience itself.

For some clients, we're there simply to host the event. For others, we become an extension of their team, helping to bring every detail together from the very first conversation until the last guest leaves.

However involved you'd like us to be, our role is always the same: to help you create an experience that feels relaxed, memorable and Hosted Brilliantly.

What does success look like?

Every event is an investment.

You've invested time, thought, budget and trust into bringing the right people together. Our role is to help protect that investment and give it the very best chance of achieving the objectives you've set out from the very beginning.

For us, success isn't measured simply by the wines served or the food enjoyed.

It's measured by the conversations that happen, the relationships that develop and the opportunities that emerge.

One of the greatest costs of any event is often the missed connection. The conversation that never happened. The introduction that was never made. The relationship that could have started but didn't.

That's why we think so carefully about every detail. From the invitation and the choice of venue to the wines, the food, the hosting and the atmosphere, every element is designed to help people feel relaxed enough to connect naturally.

Over the years, we've consistently seen high engagement, strong acceptance rates, very few no-shows and wonderful feedback from both clients and their guests.

For us, that's what success looks like.

How many guests can Lunzer host?

From intimate dinners for four guests to networking events with more than 350 people, we're equally at home creating memorable experiences of every size.

The ideal format often depends on what you're hoping to achieve. A hosted wine dinner naturally lends itself to smaller groups and longer conversations, while networking events can comfortably welcome much larger numbers.

Rather than thinking in terms of guest numbers, we begin with your objectives. Once we understand the purpose of the event, we'll recommend the format that best suits your guests and the experience you'd like to create.

Whether you're bringing together four people or several hundred, our goal remains exactly the same: to create an atmosphere where people feel relaxed, engaged and able to connect naturally.

Do you only work in London?

London is where we're based, and it's where we host many of our experiences.

However, our work has taken us far beyond the capital. Over the years we've created experiences across the UK and around the world, from Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai to Moscow, Monaco and destinations across Europe.

Whether you're planning an event in your own offices, at a venue in London or somewhere further afield, we're always happy to explore how we can help.

Wherever the location, our philosophy remains the same: thoughtful hospitality, carefully curated wines and memorable conversations that bring people together naturally.

How far in advance should we book?

As early as possible is always helpful, but don't worry if you're working to a tighter deadline.

Ideally, we'd recommend getting in touch around eight to twelve weeks before your event. This gives us plenty of time to understand your objectives, secure the right venue if needed, source the wines, plan the menu and carefully bring every element together.

That said, we've also created wonderful experiences at much shorter notice. If we can make it happen, we will.

The earlier we start the conversation, the more options we'll have available, but we're always happy to explore what's possible.

Practicalities

What if some of our guests don't drink alcohol?

Not a problem at all.

In fact, it's something we see more and more, and we're always delighted to accommodate.

For us, it's important that every guest feels equally included in the experience, regardless of what's in their glass. Nobody should ever feel like they're having a lesser experience because they've chosen not to drink alcohol.

Today's non-alcoholic options are better than ever, and we're fortunate to have access to some truly exceptional alternatives. Just as we carefully pair our wines with the food, we put the same thought and care into matching non-alcoholic drinks to create a balanced and memorable experience.

Whether someone chooses wine, doesn't drink alcohol, or simply prefers something different on the day, our aim is exactly the same.

For every guest to feel welcomed, included and able to enjoy the experience to the fullest.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Absolutely.

Whether your guests have allergies, dietary requirements or personal preferences, we'll make sure they're every bit as well looked after as everyone else around the table.

We work closely with our catering partners and venues to ensure every guest can enjoy the experience with confidence. Just as importantly, we put thought into the food and drink pairings so that those with dietary requirements enjoy the same care, balance and sense of discovery as everyone else.

For us, great hospitality is about making people feel welcomed, considered and included.

That means paying attention to the details, so every guest can relax and enjoy the experience, regardless of what's on their plate or in their glass.

Can you source special or rare wines?

Absolutely.

Whether you're looking for a legendary bottle, a rare vintage, a particular producer or something truly unique for a special occasion, we'll always do our very best to source it.

Over the years, we've built an extensive and trusted network of growers, importers, merchants and collectors, giving us access to some truly exceptional wines from around the world.

If you're looking for something special, simply ask.

The best people to speak to are Peter and his team, who will be delighted to explore the possibilities and recommend the most suitable wines for your occasion.

While we can never guarantee the availability of every bottle, we'll always do everything we can to source the right wine for your event.
